Women in Business Coaching Program
The Women in Business Coaching Program is an innovative program being delivered by CBEC – Moreton Bay Region Business Enterprise Centre to help women in business increase their business skills and their bottom line profits.
Small business owners/managers/operators can become very isolated - without peers or colleagues to talk to about their company and often too busy with day-to-day operational details to take stock. Many lose sight of the need to assess their business ‘from a distance’ and frequently forget their original goals and plans.
Business Coaches are not consultants, they will only guide based on their own experience. By acting as a sounding board for their Protégés, they walk alongside them as their business grows. The coach's role is to support and develop, stimulate and challenge.
They are keen to share their experience and wisdom with women who are aiming to grow their businesses. If you plan to develop your business and are willing to meet with a coach a couple of hours a month then this could be a very effective business tool to help you plan your way forward.
They can help you:
- think through decisions;
- explore new ideas;
- see things from different perspectives;
- and gain access to useful business information and networks.
However, the coaches will also respect your views – and ultimately allow you to make your own decisions (with the benefit of their experience). The WIBCP is not for everyone. To take part, you’ll need to be a woman (either a sole trader or in partnership with others) who is currently operating your business and able to show your existing small business has above average growth potential.
Why Coaching?
While small businesses are important to our economy, many of them find that they lack sufficient expertise to grow in critical areas. Having access to the right networks of information and resources can make a big difference in helping small businesses succeed. Small firms can benefit from the valuable business guidance and expertise of coaches.
The benefits to small companies include:
- Obtaining technical advice
- Enhancing managerial development
- Leveraging core strengths
- Accessing sources of financing
- Increasing marketplace credibility
- Entering subcontracts and joint ventures
Women in Business desiring this support and willing to agree to the terms of the program are urged to make contact with the Business Network Coordinator
